How to prepare your kite for a boat launch?

How to rig your kite for a boat launch?

This instructional video will help you prepare your kite for a boat launch so you can fully enjoy your session!

1 – Choose your kite and bar according to the forecast weather

The team recommends preparing at least 2 kites of different sizes in case of changing weather.

2 – Unfold your kite in a clear area

Lay it out facing you as shown in the image.

3 – Make sure your bridles are untangled and ready for use.

4 – Unroll your lines

Starting from the trailing edge of your kite for easier packing.

5 – Place your bar on the ground, following the color code.

Ensure you have a functional bar with lines in good condition and an effective release system.

6 – Untangle your lines

Make sure to keep the red side on the left. Stay focused and don’t hesitate to start over if in doubt. On the boat, tangled lines mean a shortened kite session!

7 – The comb method works quite well!

8 – Position your untangled lines facing the corresponding kite bridle.

9 – Lark’s head knot

Be careful to place the lark’s head knot against the stopper and tighten it at the end.

10 – Connect each line to its corresponding bridle in order.

11 – Fold the left wingtip over the right wingtip.

12 – Keep your lines on the trailing edge side.

13 – Gather all your lines towards the two wingtips of your kite.

Make sure to keep the bridle inside the kite, only letting your connections protrude.

14 – Go back to your bar to roll up the lines.

15 – Ensure the depower line doesn’t hang loose and your chicken loop is tucked against the bar.

16 – Once the bar is rolled, place it on top of your wingtip.

17 – You can then roll your kite around your bar.

18 – Roll it all the way so the kite looks like this.

19 – Fold it in half or in thirds.

20 – Great job, everyone! You’re ready to head out on the water!

“Do it well,” as Adri told us.
